Invisible Labor: Why Women Still Do It All & and How to Reclaim Your Time

"True self-care is not salt baths and chocolate cake; it is making the choice to build a life you don't need to regularly escape from."

– Eve Rodsky

Eve Rodsky is just one of those women that not only sees the issues facing women so clearly....she is on a mission to change it.

In her career, Eve realized that simply identifying the issue of unequal labor on the home front wasn’t enough: she needed a solution to this universal problem. Her sanity, identity, career, and marriage depended on it. Armed with data, research, her Harvard Law School training, and years of organizational management experience, she set out to create a system for domestic labor that mirrored systems in the most efficient corporate organizations.

Her Fair Play system creates delineated roles, specific assignments, and explicitly defined expectations that empower both partners to take the lead, stay in their own lane and ultimately—support sustainable relationships that thrive. Fair Play was instantly recognized for its life-changing strategy. In her follow-up book, Find Your Unicorn Space, Rodsky realized that even when the domestic workload becomes more balanced, people still report something missing in their lives—that is, unless they create and prioritize time for activities that not only fill their calendars but also unleash their creativity.

In this episode, we talked all about invisible labor: what it is, why it matters, and how to push back.

Plus, the surprising way conversations around gender equity can actually make relationships stronger, and the importance of carving out your “unicorn space” as a working woman.

Check out the episode and let me know what you think!

Today is an exciting day! It can finally be announced that I will be the host of the revamped Girlboss podcast. I know what you are thinking......"Amanda.....you are a 40 year old mom of 3 and anti-hustle culture....aren't you against girlbossing?" Well here's the real answer: I'm against a society that makes ambitious women feel silly or small. Does ambition need a rebrand? Yes. We can't "girlboss too close to the sun" anymore. And I wrote an entire book about sustainable ambition. Girlboss...
