♟️ MY TURN:
Last week we reviewed your 2025 game plan for life.
For me, 2025 will bring a new home, wedding planning, a book launch and turning 40!
Balancing work + life is what this newsletter is all about.
So today I wanted to share my 2025 Business Plan (different than the life plan from last week).
This is the plan I'll follow to continue building multiple income streams as part of my portfolio career.
Resolutions are great.
It shows you want to change something.
But a business plan is a tool to outline your goals and how you intend to achieve them.
You likely have done this for a company but what if you viewed YOU as the business.....
and started to think about your career as a portfolio career (one with multiple revenue streams).
4 Reasons why you need a business plan:
- Set the GPS for your personal business / brand
- Identify + reach milestones
- Understand the resources necessary
- Clarify projected revenue streams
Most people overestimate what they can do in a day, and underestimate what they can do in a year. - Bill Gates
Why most fail when starting a business:
The 3 things I see when someone starts a business....
No Operating System: We're so excited in the beginning and emotions start to rise. We buy new equipment, software and domains.
Especially at a time like the beginning of a new year....
Then we hit the high stress zone and, if we don’t have a clear operating system, we lose momentum as time progresses. Eventually it fizzles out.
No clear roadmap: this leads to a lot of talking and learning without the push we all need to force ourselves to get something out there to learn from.
No accountability: A study on accountability was done by the Association for Talent Development. The researchers found that individuals have the following probabilities of completing a goal by taking these actions:
- Having an idea or goal: 10% likely to complete the goal
- Consciously deciding that you will do it: 25%
- Deciding when you will do it: 40%
- Planning how to do it: 50%
- Committing to someone that you will do it: 65%
- Having a specific accountability appointment with someone you’ve committed to: 95%
This 95% is why we have daily accountability check-ins to Office Hours!
